This facility will provide a supportive and healing environment for Individuals and families struggling with substance abuse issues. Our approach emphasizes a multi-disciplinary, person-centered, and family-focused model to address the diverse needs of those seeking recovery in Saskatchewan.
The Carter House will target women and families who:
- Must relinquish care of their children to access treatment.
- Are seeking treatment to regain custody of their children.
- Are at risk of having their children apprehended due to substance use.
Job Overview
We are seeking an organized and dynamic Level 3 Early Childhood Educator to oversee the creation and implementation of high quality early learning and child care program at The Carter House. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, organizing, and implementing a early learning child care program and environment that promotes physical, emotional, and social well-being of children affected by substance use disorder. This role requires excellent program management skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of the role child development and learning play in holistic family recovery.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Knowledge of the holistic domains of child development
- An understanding of the interdependence of these domains and the milestones that mark developmental progress
- Experience conducting ECE assessments
- Experience planning and implementing early learning and childcare programs that are supportive of positive early learning and child development outcomes
- Guiding and facilitating play-based opportunities that are determined by children’s interests
- Experience developing programs guided by an early learning framework, which is individualized to the unique learning needs and dispositions of each child
- Experience developing programming for children with intensive needs in a child care setting that is inclusive of all children
- Understanding that children grow and learn through positive, responsive interactions with adults and peers in their lives
- An understanding of the importance of the promotion of positive behaviours and child guidance
- Awareness and compliance with the ethics of the early learning and child care profession
- Effective communication with families, professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Recognition and will value the communities and cultures in which children grow and learn, including Indigenous cultures in Saskatchewan
- An understanding that relationships are the foundation upon which optimal child outcomes are built
- Understanding of mental health, substance abuse, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction would be an asset
Qualifications
- The completion of a two-year diploma in early childhood education from a recognized post-secondary institution
- ECE certification through the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education
- CPR and First Aid
- Valid Class 5 license
- Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check
Expected Salary Range: $26.00 – $30.00 hourly
